“We desire a world where youth are thriving and come to their full potential.”
Welcome to the website of our organisation the Recabites Youth Ministries International (RYMI). Our name is based on Jeremiah 35. The Recabite family obeyed God and were willing to serve Him. They did this for many generations. As an organisation, we also want to serve God willingly and follow Him wherever He calls us. The mission of the organisation is to invest in youth and the wider community in Godly ways, teach them the core doctrines and disciplines of the Christian faith along with the principles of how to live a Godfearing, healthy and productive life. We do this through several projects. Since the 17th of October 2019 the organisation is officially registered in Uganda. We are mainly active in Kalungami, a village in the Jinja district, where there is a lot of poverty and few opportunities. It is important to bring hope to these youth.
Some of the founders of the organisation have faced challenges as youth in Uganda that the youth nowadays also go through. These challenges are often financial, but also there is a lot of brokenness in relationships. Because the youth are facing so many different challenges, they can make poor decisions and live lives without God. We want to encourage the youth and show them that God is good despite all these issues. This we are doing by sharing hopeful words with them, but also supporting them in more practical ways. Go to our page our projects to find out more about the ways we are working on fulfilling our mission.
Our mission is to empower young people to reach their full potential by offering opportunities for structural change. Our core values are:
Faith-based: everything we do needs to be in line with the Bible.
Commitment: we are committed to God, to each other and to the people we serve. Also we expect commitment from the people we are working with and we value cooperation between the board and the target group.
Accountability: we are accountable to God, each other, those we serve and those who are donating. In this we will be transparent and handle matters with integrity.
Respect: everyone is unique and has abilities, so respecting every individual is vital.
Sustainability: we want to be sustainable in the things we do, concerning the climate, but also we want to have a long lasting impact on the target group so that they can be self-supporting.
On the 20th September 2022 we were on the radio of RTV Noord Oost Friesland. Curious about our story? You can listen back the fragment down below.
